Food … or is it?

It’s hard to hear with all the noise out there.

By noise I mean different people telling you to eat this or that for this reason and for that reason.

Companies saying their product is healthy and Fitness people (waving their 2 day online certificate around) telling you to eat this and do that to lose weight and get fit.

That’s another day’s work.

Along with deafening noise, another one of my pet peeves, (well I have a few, I shared them in my free group last week)  is the way modern day food is presented, and the way big companies can market their products as “Natural” and “Fresh”.  The reality, most of it is still crap in a packet.

The best thing you can do for yours and your families health, is to learn to read the back of packets and spend time on your next shopping trip learning what you are feeding your loved ones.

Denny have recently brought out a 100% natural range of processed ham slices. At first glance it all looks above board.  It takes a while of digging down deep into their website to find the real ingredients to there “all natural” product.  Needless to say, there’s hidden sugars in there that they have managed to pass and market as a natural product.

Absolutely disgraceful!

Downright dishonesty.

Below is one of my favourite quotes and it may really ring true with you if you are in control of what goes into your family’s bellies!

“The food you eat can be the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison”

We see more people than ever suffering from increased rates of cancer, diabetes and heart disease, which research shows is directly or indirectly related to poor food choices.

How do we find our way through the noise to the right path?

“Real food” is simply food found in its most natural, unprocessed state… free from any additives, chemicals, hormones, and artificial substances.

i.e. One ingredient foods

For example:

Fresh apple = real one ingredient food;

Packaged snack bar that has apples in it = NOT real food.

Our bodies are the most amazing, complex machines and we need REAL fuel. Eating real food will:

  • Improve brain function
  • Balance hormones
  • Enhance your mood
  • Improve the quality of your sleep
  • Increase energy levels
  • Speed up your metabolism
  • Lead to faster recovery after training
  • Help strengthen your immune system and protect you from developing all sorts of diseases.

Basically, if you can grow it or raise it yourself, it’s free game.

Here are a few ideas of what food you should be eating on a day to day basis:

  • Meat, Poultry, & Fish (grass-fed, pasture-raised, and wild is best)
  • Vegetables & Fruits (organic when possible)
  • Nuts & Seeds
  • Whole Grains like quinoa, Basmati rice, gluten-free steel cut oats, (if your diet permits)
  • LIMITED amounts of raw, real sweeteners like honey or coconut sugar
  • If you absolutely have to eat packaged foods, only select items that have 5 ingredients or less.

We teach these methods at CPT in our nutrition seminars which we put every new member through when they join one of our programs.

They come away with a great understanding of how their body works and how to reach optimal health and body fat levels through real world, results driven, nutrition strategies.

We have an 8 Week transformation starting Tuesday this week, which is full (With a waiting list) but we do have 3 spaces on our 14 Day Fat Furnace program starting Thursday.
